The Powerboat 2 course is suitable for both the experienced and those new to boating and you will receive expert hands on tuition on how to properly handle a powerboat on the tidal Thames.


Each instructor teaches up to three people at a time and children as young as 12 are able to take the course. Teaching is conducted on a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat)

The course is popular among corporate clients and can be a great team building exercise with competitions and activities built in. Please ask about this option via the contacts page.

The course syllabus is mostly practical with a few hours of theory work:
  • Boat Handling (including low & high speed turns, turning in a confined space, planing, preparation and use of lines, crew communications)
  • Anchoring (including preparation of anchor, chain & warp and stowage & attachment)
  • Man Overboard (including reaction & observation and correct recovery)
  • Knots (including round turn and two half hitches, sheet bend & clove hitches)
  • Leaving & Coming Alongside (including preparation & use of lines & fenders, speed & angle of approach, use of springs)
The course is accredited by the RYA and on completion you will receive a Powerboat Level 2 certificate.

Whilst on the river you will also experience the sights of London from a unique vantage point and experience the Thames hands-on
